In this role, you will be providing an outstanding OSHC – Before and After School Care Program and be responsible for the service’s day to day organisation, management and leadership.
THE POSITION:
The OSHC Coordinator is a part-time position of up to 25 hours per week.
It is responsible for the effective day to day running of the service, which includes people leadership, program development, safety of children and educational leadership of the OSHC. It is expected that the Coordinator will spend part of each day ‘on the floor’ working with Educators and directly supervising children in our care.
The position is the Nominated Supervisor of the service and will report into the School Principal. The successful applicant will have a sound knowledge and understanding of the NQF, NQS and the School Age Learning Framework.
ABOUT St James OSHC Yamba:
St James OSHC is approved for 52 children per day and operates Before and After School Care on the school premises. Our philosophy is to provide a stable and happy environment for children within the Catholic culture of our school. Children, families, and staff are treated as equal and valued individuals that are seen as unique reflections of Jesus.
Children have choice and control over their learning but are encouraged to develop and share their talent within a safe, caring and supportive environment. Staff are child-focused with each child’s interest’s abilities and offer an inclusive and diverse experience. Our aim is to provide each child with a diverse range of outside school recreation and leisure play based activities within a program where children can grow, form relationships, be enriched and nurtured.
The service operates as part of the Maclean Parish, within the Diocese of Lismore. The Diocese is the Approved Provider.
The Diocese of Lismore operates 3 Early Childhood Education (ECE) Services and 9 Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) Services across a region extending north to Tweed Heads and South to Laurieton.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
We welcome applications from experienced ECE or OSHC Coordinators or Responsible Person/Team Leaders.
Ideally, applicants will have:
- A Certificate III in Children’ Services or diploma in Children’s Services or equivalent ACECQA approved qualification.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the National Quality Framework (Law, Regulations and Standards) and My Time Our Place Learning Framework for School Aged Care and the Child Care Subsidy system.
- Current First Aid Qualification (HLTAID004) specific for early childhood settings.
- Child Protection Training: CHPRC001 or CHCPRT002
Operational and leadership experience in an OSHC or early learning setting. - Demonstrated ability to bring collaborative leadership to the role, form relationships and communicate effectively with children, families, team members and school / parish communities.
- Excellent computer, communication, time management and organisational skills.
