We are seeking a Staff Specialist (FACEM) for a well equipped rural Emergency Department in northern Queensland.
The Hospital is accredited with the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine and contains a great team of Staff Specialists, SMO's, Registrars and Resident Medical Officers.
The region has a population of 32000 with 23% under 14 years of age and 15% identifying as indigenous Australians and the hospital also provides services for patients from outside of the region, with some of the healthcare provision provided via telehealth and outreach clinics.
As well as providing emergency care to patients, providing telehealth support and advice for remote locations of the service, you will provide professional leadership to medical staff, being actively involved in further education and training in collaboration with ACEM for the workforce.
Flexible rosters can be negotiated that allow for part-time, position sharing and fly in fly out.

- Base salary of $159458 - $2333538 dependent on experience
- 12.75% superannuation

Health Service and Location
The Health Service covers an area of approximately 300000 square kilometres and services many remote communities and has a Level 4 Specialist Service Base and Referral Hospital with a total of 80 beds. The Hospital has undergone a redevelopment which includes a new Emergency Department, new Outpatients Department, Mental Health (Outpatient) Unit, a Cancer Care Centre and a Paediatrics Unit. The Emergency Department sees approximately 28,000 to 32,000 presentations per annum. An extremely varied mix of presentations gives clinical staff many opportunities to gain hands-on experience in procedural work and broad clinical experience.
