Calvary Mater Newcastle

Temporary Part Time - until 30 June 2025

  • Temporary Part Time - until 30 June 2025 (28 hours per week). 
  • Classification: Staff Specialist Level 1 (Level election is optional)
  • Remuneration: $262,376 - $323,777 p.a. dependent on years of experience, plus superannuation, salary packaging.

About the role:

The Staff Specialist will be responsible for the provision of high quality, safe and effective clinical management of patients. The Staff Specialist works within an inter-disciplinary team to ensure timely, appropriate care and effective discharge strategies. Duties will include patient care, supervision and teaching, continuing medical education, research and administration.

Key responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for the care of patients admitted under Specialist Gastroenterology Services.
  • Perform clinical services for Inpatients and Emergency presentations as required and to participate in the bed allocation process and management of transfer of care and patient flow according to patient need and the Hospital’s requirements.
  • Provide clinical leadership to junior colleagues by ensuring a high standard of patient care which conforms to best practice and is evidence based.
  • To develop, promote, encourage and participate in Staff Development Programs
  • To participate in the development and execution of innovative programs in both the delivery of care and clinical training.

What you bring:

  • A Primary Medical Degree registrable with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). 
  • A desire to join a team committed to the care of others in a mission-based organisation
  • Demonstrated experience and/or qualification(s) in General and Acute Care Medicine, and a commitment to Outreach programs delivering health care to rural or remote settings.
  • Demonstrated capacity for clinical leadership, a commitment to undergraduate and post-graduate teaching in medicine, nursing and allied health and willingness to participate in clinical research.
