The Royal Hobart Hospital is seeking interest from suitably qualified applicants for a Staff Specialist (Gastroenterology) vacancy.The Royal Hobart Hospital is the State's tertiary referral centre and is also the primary teaching hospital for the University of Tasmania School of Medicine. The Hospital provides most specialist medical services for the region or state.We are seeking motivated and experienced Staff Specialists in Gastroenterology. The position involves management of patients in General Gastroenterology, IBD, chronic liver disease, and both diagnostic and therapeutic Endoscopy.This position will be attractive to a highly skilled and motivated medical professional who views challenges as opportunities and is driven by a passion to improve healthcare in the complex world of modern health systems. The right applicants will play a key role in developing health care at both patient and system levels.The successful candidates will provide specialist diagnosis, treatment, and care for public patients. They will provide a consultative service in Gastroenterology to other disciplines within the Department of Health.Details of AppointmentPermanent, full time, day worker position working 76 hours per fortnight commencing from May 2024.*Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.Salary$210,000 - $301,349 per annumA remuneration package comprising the Agreement base salary, relevant allowances and other entitlements will be negotiated with the successful applicant dependent on clinical experience and seniority.Access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Levels 1, 2 and 3 as described in the Medical Practitioners (Public Sector) Award.ClassificationSpecialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 to Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 in accordance with the Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022.AwardMedical Practitioners (Public Sector) AwardLocationRoyal Hobart HospitalEssential RequirementsSuccessful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

• Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty

• Experience in assessment of motility disorders including oesophageal manometry/pH testing would be desirable but not essential.
• Experience in Assessment and management of Liver diseases and/or IBD would be desirable but not essential.
