Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is seeking an experienced Staff Specialist to join our team at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital
We are looking for a Staff Specialist in Maternal Fetal Medicine! The primary purpose of the role is to provide high quality diagnostic and consultative specialty services in Maternal Fetal Medicine, and to participate in teaching, research, education, quality improvement and administrative activities within the Women’s Babies Department and Hospital as required.
The Staff Specialist in Maternal Fetal Medicine will have extensive experience in maternal medicine and be part of the RPAH integrated department of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) . The RPA is uniquely positioned to serve as a centre of excellence in the management of critically ill pregnant women. The Department is an established centre for providing services to high-risk obstetrics cases to a diverse range of complex medical conditions, encompassing cardiac issues, chronic renal diseases, transplant recipients, individuals with cystic fibrosis, and more in addition to fetal diagnostic, teaching and consultative specialty services in the integrated department of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM).
The Staff Specialist will participate and play an integral role in the continued advancement of RPA's High-Risk Obstetrics and Maternal Medicine services, contributing to the development of evidence-based guidelines for managing complex medical conditions in obstetrics, enhancing collaboration with obstetric physicians to provide comprehensive care, assisting and counselling of other ultrasounds performed by sonographers at RPAH, Charles Perkins Centre and The Canterbury Hospital. They will ensure a high standard of professional performance and encouragement of an academic environment which supports education, research, and professional development. The successful applicant will be registered, or eligible for specialist registration, with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) with recognised qualifications in Maternal Fetal Medicine, or currently in the recognised training program for MFM. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the NSW Staff Specialist (State) Award.
All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
