The Hospital:
The Department of Health is seeking interest from suitably qualified applicants for a Staff Specialist - Persistent Pain Services vacancy.
The Royal Hobart Hospital is the State's tertiary referral centre and is also the primary teaching hospital for the University of Tasmania School of Medicine.
All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.
The role: * Provide services in Persistent Pain Medicine, including diagnosis, treatment and care for inpatients and outpatients at the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) and other health services in Tasmania where appropriate.
- In consultation with other clinical services, assist with the management of RHH patients.
- Participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programs.
- Undertake research in Persistent Pain Medicine.
- Participate in such Hospital committee and administrative matters as required by the Clinical Head, Chief Executive Hospitals South, Group Manager - Complex, Chronic and Community Service and Executive Director of Medical Services.
Details of Appointment
Permanent full time day worker position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing after 15 December 2022.

Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 - Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3
$163,005 - $247,768 pro rata per annum + 10.5% superannuation
*Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $234,726 -$247,768 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award
- In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Provision of a fully maintained private plated motor vehicle or motor vehicle allowance of $25,758 per annum
- Communication allowance of $1948 per annum
- Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $24,927 per annum
- Salary packaging
- Salary range is in accordance with Salaried Medical Practitioners Agreement 2019
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
- Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty
