Position Summary:
The technician is responsible for the execution of a more expansive set of detailed tasks as
part of a larger technical team. This will include generally autonomous responsibility for physical
completion of tests and technical activity.
The technician performs assignments with the general technical guidance of more senior
members of Research staff.
Given specific project objectives, the technician will be capable of conducting an
experiment or test to obtain the required information or data. Experimental progress and results
will be reviewed for appropriateness, accuracy and completeness.
The technician is responsible to ordering general lab materials and supplies as well as
performs routine maintenance of basic lab equipment.
The technician will be responsible for reporting of data, and written documentation of
experiment activity and results for the assigned task.
Some travel may be required of this position.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Knows and observes safety regulations of the corporation
2. Knows and understands regulatory information (i.e., SDS) for chemicals
3. Responsible for ensuring safe execution of procedures for equipment and activities
4. Provides clear and accurate written documentation
5. Sets up and conducts experiments under specific instruction
6. Performs laboratory tasks and experiments as directed
7. Prepares plans for carrying out and completing assignments with the help of a more
senior member
8. Work is defined with specific objective under general supervision
9. Relies on instructions, pre-established guidelines and draws on basic experience to
perform functions of job
10. Captures and collects experimental data and completes basic statistical analysis.
11. Has detailed knowledge of relevant concepts, procedures, practices, and equipment used
in laboratory
12. Familiar with products, processes and systems relating to the work of the laboratory
13. Maintains databases and chemical inventory records
14. Captures and records data, observations, measurements and reports results
15. Accurately completes assignments on a timely basis
16. Assists with preparation of reports and communication
17. Performs other duties as assigned
18. Participates in laboratory, plant and field work. Assists with planning and follow-up,
including documentation of results
19. Operates and maintains instruments and equipment in specific work area
Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
