Job description

Our client, an innovative, agile business and is seeking a motivated individual to appoint as a State Manager to join their team.

Reporting directly to the General Manager, the primary purpose of the role is to manage and oversee the workflow of the Administration and Construction Departments whilst maintaining close working relationships with key stake holders. The position is responsible to ensure their department achieves goals in accordance with the company directives. Support of the continual development of processes, staff and efficiency is vital.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE

  • Oversee workflow ensuring customer and company KPIs are achieved
  • Review, analyse and manage workflow
  • Ensure interdepartmental reports are distributed weekly to ensure monthly KPI is achieved including but not limited to quotes, work-in-progress and invoicing
  • Working in collaboration with internal and external departments adhering to company objectives and key performance indicators
  • Identify and review processes and applicable documentation to improve business efficiencies
  • Identify, resolve and report of any issues arising from day-to-day operations including but not limited to internal resources, customer service, contractors, suppliers, and external service providers
  • Ensure uniform practices are observed
  • Coordinate training as required
  • Assist in clarifying customer needs whilst developing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff, suppliers, and customers
  • Effective decision making, ensuring company values are adhered to and overall KPI’s and objectives are being met
  • Leading, guiding, directing, and evaluating the work of your direct reporting staff members
  • Effective staff management, including but not limited to retention, counselling, probationary review assessments, annual performance reviews, discipline and performance management and conflict resolution
  • Determining staff requirements in consultation with the General Manager
  • Ensuring that staff are performing to optimum capacity
  • Increase productivity of staff through performance management and coaching
  • Promote a continuous improvement environment for the organisation
  • Participate in industry-related events or associations that will enhance leadership skills or the organisations reputation
  • Monitor contractors and suppliers to ensure the efficiency of providing cost effective services
  • Assist with company projects and schedule as required
  • Keep up to date with Regulatory Authority and legislative changes within the industry
  • Commitment to WHS
  • Adherence to company policies and procedures

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Proven experience in a senior role
  • Experience in staff supervision and performance management (minimum 2 years)
  • Experience in the Insurance Works Industry (desirable)
  • Experience in staff retention and performance management
  • Experience in process development, review, and implementation
  • Excellent organisational, administrative and communication skills
  • Excellent skills in managing multiple tasks, competing priorities, and meeting conflicting deadlines
  • Excellent customer service, conflict resolution and negotiation skills
  • Capacity to exercise judgement and discretion when dealing with sensitive and/or confidential information
  • Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Senior First Aid (desirable)
  • Building Work Contractors/Supervisors Licence | Residential & Commercial Building Work
  • Common Safety Induction Course Card (White card)
  • Diligent and thorough
  • Ability to work under pressure, problem solve and make decisions
  • Ability to motivate and lead
  • Well presented with exceptional work ethic
  • Positive approach
  • Knowledge and understanding of Ethical Practice
  • Knowledge and understanding of EPA requirement
  • Knowledge and understanding the National Construction Code and relevant Australian Standards
  • Knowledge and understanding of Work, Health & Safety (WHS)
