The role:
The State Operations Manager is responsible for leading, influencing and managing the Branch Managers and Business Manager, reviewing individual and team performance to develop strategies that will encourage a culture of continuous improvement.
The key functions of this role are to drive and assist Branch Managers and their employees on matters relating to; People, Safety, Quality and Costs, as well as working with the Business Manager to drive effective and continuous improvement across business outcomes.
Based out of the Head office, in Saint Mary’s with regular travel to the other NSW Branches (Newcastle), the State Operations Manager reports to the General Manager for New South Wales.
Your role will include….. But isn’t limited to:
People
- Work with Branch Managers and People and Culture teams for Workforce Labour planning ensuring sufficient resources in the recruitment pipeline or being upskilled to meet client demand and forecasts
- Collaborate with HR in regards to – Recruitment & selection, training & development, performance management, disciplinary meetings and Workplace Health & Safety.
- Lead by example to create a high performing and engaged team
- Provide ongoing feedback, guidance, mentoring, advice and coaching to direct reports
- Adopt, encourage, and actively promote business core values
Safety
- Working alongside the Compliance Department to generate the required safety outcomes
- Demonstrate a visible commitment to safety leadership including through;
- Leading by example for PPE compliance
- encouraging ownership and accountability for safety behaviour from managers and other workers
- creating forums that encourage safety feedback
- Encourage participation in return-to-work programs and positive return to work experiences for workers with a work-related injury or illness
Quality (Excellence)
- Oversee that all required information is made available to and returned by the field teams for an accurate, efficient, and compliant install/dismantle process
- Work with other departments to create or improve procedures for best practice/best outcome service delivery
- Ensuring day to day business activities and flow of information are effective to drive business performance, efficiencies, and continuous improvement
Financials
- Monitor and review operational KPIs daily/weekly/monthly including financial statements, sales or activity reports, Power BI dashboards or other performance data to measure productivity or goal achievement to identify areas needing cost reduction or program improvement
- Understand stock levels and availability throughout all branches and entities, and determine how to increase inventory turns, reduce waste, and optimize customer service.
- Analyse profitability data and take actions or make recommendations to internal stakeholders to ensure optimisation of profitability
- Direct and coordinate activities of businesses or departments concerned with the production, pricing, sales, or distribution of products.
You will have experience in the following:
- Implementing business processes, plans and procedures
- Setting comprehensive goals for performance and growth
- Leading, engaging and empowering a team
- Building and Construction experience —Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in residential construction. (desirable)
- Recent Senior Management Experience
- Evaluate performance by analysing and interpreting data and metrics
