Roebuck Plains Station is seeking expressions of interest for an Assistant Managerto join the team. The station comprises of 280,000 hectares of highly productive Flood Plain and Pindan country and runs between 16,000 and 20,000 head of high-grade Brahman cattle. We are situated 40km’s East of Broome in the iconic West Kimberley region.
We are currently delivering a 3-year Capital Development Program, with a strong focus on improved herd management, animal welfare and staff safety.
The ideal candidate will have previous proven experience in a similar role. E.g., Senior Head Stockperson or 2IC, with involvement and experience in a large-scale breeder operation.
While the main focus will be on cattle production, you must be motivated and willing to learn and assist with all aspects of the business.
While current Management takes full responsibility for delivery, the role will require the successful candidate to learn and assist with the following: -
- Herd Management & Sales
- Animal Welfare
- Herd Fertility, Herd Nutrition, and Station Biosecurity
- Livestock Recording, Data Entry, Data Analysis, Record Keeping, Logistics Around Stock Movements/Droving & Trucking
- Efficient Staff Utilisation, Staff Training & Staff Supervision
- Capital Development & Contractor Management
- Sustainable Grazing Methodologies and Data Recording & Collaboration with Industry Stakeholders
- Collaboration with NBY Rangers around overall health of station eco systems and burning regimes.
- Liaise with Station Borerunner around Water Management, Cattle Movements and Maintenance
- Ensure delivery and compliance of Station and Legislated OH&S Policies
- Maintenance on Station Gensets, Station Plant & Station Vehicles
Mandatory: -
- Under direction from the Station Manager and the Yawuru Holdings Company Board the successful applicant must be willing to embrace and promote Nyambu Buru Yawuru values and practices while undertaking day to day duties.
- Good Communication and High Attention to Detail in every task undertaken on the station.
- Efficient time management and staff utilisation skills.
- High standard of horsemanship and willingness to train staff in this area. Own horses are encouraged, with good facilities on the station, hay and feed supplied.
- Police Check, Working with Children, Open License.
- Thorough understanding of Low Stress Livestock Handling principles with current commercial experience in this field and a willingness to embrace RPS management requirements around cattle handling.
Highly Desirable: -
- HR, HC, or MC Truck Licence
- Ability to Preg Test Accurately & Spay using the Willis Dropped Ovary method.
- Any accreditation for training in the rural industry
