About Us
Spanning 609 square kilometres and occupying 60,000 hectares, Moolooloo and Moorillah Stations in South Australia’s picturesque northern Flinders Ranges uniquely blends lamb and merino wool production with a burgeoning eco-tourism offering, each experiencing exciting periods of growth.
The family-owned property located 15 kilometres north-west of Blinman and 47 kilometres south of Leigh Creek runs 5,000 – 7,000 head of merino sheep with a strong focus on animal welfare, high-quality operating procedures, community involvement and sharing the beauty of the outback with tourists from across the world.
The Opportunity
We have a unique dual-role offering for an experienced livestock handler to manage Moolooloo and Moorillah Station’s livestock enterprise on a full-time basis, with an employment opportunity for a second individual to manage and grow the eco-tourism business on a part-time basis, living on the property.
With the station owners based a distance away from the station, our Station Manager will expertly manage the day-to-day operational requirements of the properties, including:
- Monitoring livestock health, feed, fences, water infrastructure and equipment and livestock movements within the properties, including vegetation management.
- Maintain accurate records of livestock movements, treatments and work.
- Attend to basic mechanical and building repairs and maintenance where required including general station and water infrastructure, machinery and fencing. Experience operating a grader would be highly regarded but not essential.
- Arrange and manage contractors and other external labour to suit the needs of the property
- Using a motorbike for mustering and other livestock and station tasks (advanced motorbike experience is required).
- Management of rangeland goats on the property including monitoring, mustering, trapping and handling.
- Comply with and implement health and safety policies and practices for all contractors and visitors to the property.
Our Tourism Operator will provide a warm and friendly welcome to our visitors right from the first point of contact. They’ll also:
- Manage bookings, handle enquiries and communication with guests
- Provide directions and maps to guests, ensuring we maximise their guest experience and their ability to create outback memories on our property
- Attend to occasional cleaning requirements to ensure the property is presented appropriately to guests.
- Be interested and willing to share ideas and implement new strategies to grow the eco-tourism experience on the station and attract new visitors.
