Key Responsibilities
As a Data Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in contributing to the ED Downtime App by:
- Design and Build Data Pipelines: Develop and maintain scalable and robust data pipelines within the Microsoft Azure environment.
- ETL Processes: Utilise Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and other Azure services for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.
- Data Warehousing: Implement and manage data warehousing solutions using Azure and Snowflake data management.
- Healthcare Data Models: Work with common healthcare data models, ensuring compliance with industry standards such as HL7, FHIR, and HIPAA.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to provide accessible, clean, and integrated data for advanced analytics.
- Data Optimisation: Optimise data storage and performance in Azure and Snowflake, managing both structured and unstructured data.
- Data Quality and Governance: Ensure data quality and integrity, implementing appropriate data governance and security measures.
- Documentation: Develop and maintain documentation for data models, data flow diagrams, and ETL processes.
To be considered for this position, you must have:
- Proven Experience: Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing enterprise-wide data models and pipelines, using a broad range of modern platforms and technologies.
- Azure Expertise: Proven experience as a Data Engineer on Microsoft Azure platforms.
- Technical Skills: Expertise in SQL, Python, and other data processing languages.
- ETL Knowledge: Strong knowledge of ETL techniques and tools, data modeling, and data warehousing.
- Enterprise Experience: Experience working in a large, complex organisation and adhering to enterprise standards and policies.
- Solution Design: Comprehensive knowledge and grasp of technology solution design, particularly as it relates to the design of complex enterprise-level system interfaces and data exchanges.
- Database Technologies: Experience with database technologies, migration, integration, virtualisation, and deployment methodologies.
- Dimensional Modelling: Extensive experience applying dimensional modelling principles to data structures.
- Data Serving: Proven experience in serving up data to a broad range of consumers (e.g., semantic layers, tools, data structures).
- Information Architecture: Strong understanding of information architecture, security, quality control, and governance principles associated with enterprise data warehousing solutions.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional quality written and verbal skills, particularly in the development of project documentation.
- Problem Solving: Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills and experience.
- Healthcare Data Models: Experience with healthcare data models and familiarity with healthcare data standards and regulations.
- Industry Awareness: Awareness of the healthcare industry and clinical processes.
