The City of Melville is currently seeking 2 Statutory Planners  to join our Statutory Planning team, so if you're looking for an opportunity to join a dynamic and supportive team that is dedicated to making a positive impact, then we want to hear from you.

This position will provide the right person with interesting and varied professional planning opportunities to work within a brownfield/infill environment, supported by a local planning policy framework including Activity Centre Plans, and a Local Planning Strategy designed to deliver growth and diversity.

In this role you will put to use your relevant tertiary qualifications and experience working on a caseload covering a range of development management issues.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Essential - Tertiary qualification in Town Planning or substantial and ongoing progress towards this qualification.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Desirable - Current ‘C’ Class Drivers Licence
  • Desirable - White Card
  • Ability to interpret and understand detailed plans.
  • IT savvy, with some experience in the application of planning software products.
  • Understanding and knowledge of planning policy and legislation.  
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Sound negotiation and conflict resolution skills.  
  • Sound organisation and time management skills.
  • Sound customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
