We are currently seeking a Senior Statutory Planner to join our dynamic Statutory Planning team. In this role, you'll contribute to shaping our community's future.

As our Senior Statutory Planner, you'll be assessing, investigating, and processing a variety of development applications, including complex cases. Your expertise will be crucial in providing technical guidance and support to both internal and external stakeholders. In this position, you’ll also play a key role in supervising and developing our team of Planning Officers, ensuring excellence in service delivery.

Your contributions will directly impact our growth and diversity goals, aligning with our Activity Centre Plans and Local Planning Strategy. Leveraging your extensive experience in development management, you'll thrive in this role; engaging in site visits, participate in our Development Advisory Unit, and prepare insightful reports and presentations for council and elected members.

Essential Qualifications:

  •  Essential - Tertiary qualification in Town Planning

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Desirable - Current ‘C’ Class Drivers Licence
  • Desirable - White Card.
  • Demonstrated expertise in assessing and reporting on statutory planning matters, including complex development proposals.
  • Supervisory experience with a focus on team development.
  • Proficient in developing, maintaining, and reviewing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Skilled in utilising planning software programs.
  • Familiarity with State Administrative Tribunal procedures in statutory planning. 
  • Knowledgeable about the Western Australian Planning Policy framework.
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal communication skills.  
  • Excellent organisational and time management proficiency.
  • Well developed problem solving and research skills.
