Who are we?

Established in 1991, Danila Dilba Health Service (DDHS) is an Aboriginal community-controlled organisation committed to providing culturally appropriate, comprehensive primary health care services and community development within the Biluru (Aboriginal) community of the Yilli Rreung (Greater Darwin) Region in the Northern Territory.

About the role

This position will work in conjunction with the NT Syphilis Register Officer, leading to build and strengthen the capacity of DDHS workforce to respond to NT STI/BBV strategic and operational plans within the Danila Dilba Health Service.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of an agreed Danila Dilba STI/BBV enhanced response implementation plan aligned with NACCHO and NT STI/BBV strategic operational plans.
  • Build and strengthen Danila Dilba STI/BBV workforce capabilities and competencies across the organisation.
  • Support the development and implementation of strategies to increase STI/BBV testing and prevention activities for 15-29-year old's accessing Danila Dilba.
  • Promote best practices in clinical care relating to STI/BBV health promotion screening, testing and treatment.
  • Work alongside the NT Syphilis Register Officer in support of contact tracing in the Darwin region.
  • Complete and participate in regular formal and informal performance feedback and improvement sessions.
  • Demonstrate responsibility for own development through participation in all learning opportunities.
  • Actively model DDHS Code of Conduct Policy and demonstrate appropriate and professional workplace behaviours, help team members as required and undertake other key responsibilities or activities as reasonably directed.

To be successful you will need:

Essential

  • Current registration as an AHP/Nurse with APHRA registration and demonstrated clinical experience.
  • Ability to operate at a strategic level in developing and implementing programs and plans.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing training to other staff.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, liaison, negotiation, and conflict resolution with people from a wide range of cultural and social backgrounds
  • Demonstrated understanding of the principles of sexual health and primary health care within Indigenous health
  • Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to Aboriginal cultural a history of knowledge of issues impacting on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
  • Ability to work independently, and as a member of a team, with strong organisational skills and demonstrated ability to plan, manage and prioritise tasks.
  • Demonstrated high level computer skills, including experience using Microsoft word and excel (or similar) as well as the ability to use clinical practice software.
  • Demonstrated high standard of written skills in the preparation of detailed reports, general correspondence, and documents with an understanding of confidentiality.

Desirable

  • Experience working in an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service or similar environment.
