Skills Tasmania is part of the Business and Jobs division in the Department of State Growth.
We work in partnership with industry, employers, and training providers to administer a responsive and accessible system of training and workforce development in Tasmania. We do this through:
- Subsidising Vocational Education and Training (VET) for Tasmanian learners
- Administering the apprenticeship and traineeship system in Tasmania
- Advocating for Tasmania’s interests in national policy and funding discussions
- Working with industry and employers on solutions for skills, training, and workforce issues
- Promoting pathways and opportunities in VET for Tasmanian learners and employers.

Period of AppointmentAppointment to the role is on a fixed term flexible basis for three (3) years.
Duties- Develop, implement, monitor, and update innovative communications and change management strategies and plans to ensure all relevant staff and stakeholders are aware of and engaged in change activities, risks are identified and mitigated, and staff are supported and empowered to build a collaborative culture.
- Work closely with the Senior Management Group, and individual project managers across the organisation to document and manage the changes occurring, their impact on staff and external stakeholders, and their timing. Projects may include the core systems replacement project, program review, performance management system for quality training providers and responses to National reforms and agreements.
- Build collaborative and constructive relationships within Skills Tasmania and across other areas of the Department (in particular, within the Business and Jobs Division), to ensure consistency in communication and change management activities.
- Proactively promote and ensure adherence to State Growth policies and programs to ensure accessibility and relevance in internal and external communications, including websites.
- Engage proactively with relevant external stakeholders, ensuring their concerns are understood and they are well-informed. Work collaboratively with colleagues to mitigate any issues.
- Assist in the development and implementation of communications and social media strategies, content management and publishing support, webpage editing and maintenance, and produce high-quality written material for key critical documents.
- Contribute to the team's ongoing work as directed, which may include preparing Ministerial documents, plans, and reports.
- An appropriate tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, and/or communications, project management, and/or change management qualifications.
