Triple Zero Victoria (000VIC) provides the critical link between the Victorian community and the state's emergency services agencies. It provides Victoria's 24-hour emergency call-taking and dispatch services for Police, Fire, Ambulance and VICSES.
This integration of emergency services communications within 000VIC is unique in Australia and rare worldwide. The team at 000VIC is deeply committed to the community it serves and is among the most dedicated and highly skills in its field.
About the RoleThe Strategic Operational Lead, is a pivotal role designed to support the Executive Director, Emergency Communication Services - Operations (ED, ECS), and the ECS workforce through strategic advice, complemented by operational subject matter expertise, on strategic and current operational, matters, including emergency management related policy, issues, portfolio responses, and external sector inquiries, and reporting.
The Strategic Operational Lead works closely with the operational senior leadership team and business areas to ensure effective alignment of corporate goals and strategies, streamlining strategic initiatives, overseeing program management as required, and communicating objectives between departments. The role will also play an integral part for operational engagement with both internal and external stakeholders.
Day to day responsibilities include:
- Provide high-level authoritative operational advice on complex policy and planning issues within the ECS work environment
- Manage, lead, liaise and facilitate 000VIC's contribution and reporting obligations to external reviews and inquiry bodies related to emergency management activities and operations
- Provide operational support and facilitation, influencing intra and cross-departmental collaborations to design and support delivery of operational plans and communication strategies
- Brief high-level stakeholders in own area of expertise in a variety of forums including presentations, conferences and meetings Including representing the ED, ECS at internal and external meetings and discussions to drive decision making and organisational objectives.
To fulfil the responsiblities of this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated knowledge of Victoria's emergency management arrangements, with considerable experience as a senior operational leader
- Strong initiative and problem-solving skills to navigate operational and complex service delivery situations with both internal and external stakeholders, to design and deliver effective remediations
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in a complex environment to achieve effective outcomes
- Experience planning and leading strategic initiatives, with program and project management delivery expertise
- High degree of proficiency in written and verbal communication skills, particularly in brief writing, reporting requirements and facilitating meetings with diverse stakeholder groups
