About the role
The Strategic Planning Officer plays a leadership role in addressing our strategic challenges and approaches to leverage opportunity, manage risk and deliver the strategic ambitions of North East Water.
This role is a full-time opportunity until April 2025, including a monthly RDO and flexible work options.
Key Role Responsibilities
- Provides expertise and project management in Strategic Planning across a range of topics, for example urban water security, environment, land use, climate change, circular economy, integrated water management, liveability, and strategic partnerships.
- Leads the development, implementation and maintenance of key corporation strategies and plans such as the Urban Water Strategy, Corporate Strategy 2040, IWM plans, Strategic Land Use Plan and Climate Change Plans.
- Provides Strategic Planning support throughout the business to ensure broader organisational objectives are being met.
- Leads collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to develop and deliver initiatives focused on climate change, IWM and liveability.

Key Selection Criteria
- Experience and a reasonable understanding of integrated water management, Strategic Planning, urban planning and/or the water industry.
- Experience working with a range of stakeholders, applying new and innovative ideas and in managing projects.
- Well-developed professional judgement and ability to navigate change.
- Tertiary qualification in urban and regional planning, social sciences, engineering or science or lesser formal qualifications with extensive experience relating to Strategic Planning matters.

Position Information
- An attractive salary range of $90,574 to $100,709 plus 11% superannuation, depending on skills and experience.
- This is a full time, limited tenure position until April 2025
