Job description

We are on the hunt for our next cohort of graduates who will shape the future of the energy industry. This is a permanent position, complimented by a 3 year graduate development program.

We are on the hunt for our next cohort of graduates who will shape the future of the energy industry. It is an exciting time to join our industry and Stanwell’s Graduate Program offers the opportunity for growth and development under the guidance of industry experts.

About the position

As Stanwell’s Strategy and Sustainability Graduate, you’ll have a keen enthusiasm for continuous learning, a willingness to help shape Queensland’s energy future, and enjoy thinking outside the box.

In this role, you’ll support the development and delivery of Stanwell’s corporate strategy (our long-term goals for the future) and our sustainability strategy (how we do business).

Stanwell’s sustainability and climate-related work sets out how we can have a greater positive influence, mitigate the negative impacts of our activities, and be transparent about the areas in which we have more work to do.

You’ll thrive on the opportunity to research and analyse the political, technical, social, environmental, economic, legislative and regulatory changes affecting our business, as well as reporting on the business’ progress in delivering our long-term goals.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, as well as people at all levels of our business, this role will see you involved in a diverse range of projects, including:

  • Developing and embedding sustainability initiatives across Stanwell;
  • Climate-related risk and opportunity analysis;
  • Monitoring key factors that influence Stanwell’s external operating environment;
  • Stanwell’s annual business planning process; and
  • Corporate and sustainability reporting.

During your Graduate Program, we’ll provide you with plenty of development opportunities, based on business requirements, key projects, your personal career aspirations, and your identified strengths and capabilities.

Please note this is a permanent position, complimented by a 3 year graduate development program.

What is in it for you?

  • Be rewarded with a base salary of $109,382 in your first year, supplemented by a generous incentive scheme;
  • Based in Stanwell’s Brisbane office (with occasional travel to Stanwell’s sites and flexible working arrangements available);
  • The opportunity to contribute to future-focussed and interesting projects and bring your authentic self to work every day;
  • Have access to professional memberships, as well as an online learning management system to continually support your development.
  • Take advantage of our discounted gym memberships and health insurance, voluntary health check reimbursements and various other exciting health and wellbeing initiatives.
  • Be supported throughout your program by our mentors, subject matter experts and Stanwell’s Graduate Program Coordinator.

Is this position for you?

Our ideal team member will have:

  • An undergraduate qualification in a relevant discipline including business, finance/economics, environmental science or sustainability (you must have graduated from this degree within the past two years);
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to prioritise and organise work to meet deadlines in a changing and fast-paced environment;
  • Confidence in data capture and analytics to facilitate effective reporting and inform decision making;
  • Intermediary knowledge of Microsoft programs, such a Word, PowerPoint and Excel;
  • A love for learning with a positive attitude and ability to take initiative to achieve outcomes;
  • Willingness to listen, ask questions and take advice to deliver on your tasks and projects; and
  • High levels of comfort challenging the status quo, getting out of your comfort zone and enjoy seeking out opportunities for growth.
