https://www.rmit.edu.au/about/our-education/academic-colleges/college-of-businessAbout YouAs Student Experience Coordinator (Indigenous) you will be responsible for enriching Student Experiences in line with the College’s strategic vision with a particular focus on supporting the College’s efforts in Reconciliation and Indigenous Engagement. This will include a focus on both the Indigenous experience for students and the provision of support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students across the applicant and student lifecycle.You will also contribute to team culture and work collaboratively across the College professional teams and with School staff, establishing strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. In addition you will support the Student Experience team with key College events such as Open Days, Orientations and other College specific events. A key feature of this role includes liaison with Ngarara Willim Centre.To be successful in this position, you’ll have:An understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peopleThe ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoplesMust be of Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritageDemonstrated communication, relationship building and negotiation skills with the ability to work collegiately with academic and professional staff, students, and external clients from diverse cultural backgrounds.Proven ability to deliver a high quality customer service, applying understanding of stakeholder needs to improve experienceProven initiative and problem solving skills and ability to work independently to quickly extract the priority issues and, where appropriate, take action without specific direction.Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to conduct effective meetings and compose correspondence, minutes and action-oriented reports.Ability to adapt to changing software, digital technology and service delivery requirements.QualificationsRelevant tertiary qualifications and/or proven extensive experience.*This is an Identified position and being an Australian Aboriginal and/ or Torres Strait Islander is considered a ‘genuine occupational qualification’ in accordance with sub-s 26(3) and s 28 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010.The successful applicant is required to provide confirmation of their Australian Aboriginal and/ or Torres Strait Islander heritage.Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children Check and other checks as required by the specific role.
