Role and Responsibilities:

Under the leadership of the Head of People, Culture & Pathways, as a Student Futures Specialist you will provide expert guidance and support to students as they plan for life beyond Toorak College.

Your outstanding counselling skills and knowledge of tertiary pathways and application systems, including Early Entry, enables you to effectively lead and personalise student transition.

You will enjoy delivering lecture style presentations to senior year levels, parents and staff. You will also lead and teach the careers component of the Year 9 program as part of a team of teachers and industry professionals.

Outstanding relationship building skills will be drawn upton to support and grow the Toorak College Industry Partnership program, where you will design and coordinate immersive career experiences and cadetships for students.

Finally, your project management skills will be utilised to arrange Career Events, such as the student Futures Expo and talks from industry experts/alumni.

This full-time, permanent role is available for an immediate or Term 2 start. Please note that this position has an entitlement to five (5) weeks Annual Leave, therefore work is expected during school holiday periods.

About You:

Our ideal candidate has:

- Demonstrated experience in a Career Advisor role, ideally working with young people
- Knowledge of tertiary application process
- Superior oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
- High degrees of empathy, confidentiality, discretion, patience, tact and diplomacy
- Excellent computer skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage time and workload to multitask and achieve goals in a deadline driven environment while maintaining strong attention to detail and accuracy.

This role will suit someone who can work autonomously but values collaborating with others to evolve the Student Futures function to continually align with curriculum, tertiary and industry changes.

Qualifications:

- Appropriate formal qualifications in Career Development/Education
- Membership or willingness to become a member of the Career Industry Council of Australia
- Accreditation in the Morrisby Assessment is considered advantageous.
