Overview: The Omani Cultural Attache in Canberra is seeking a highly qualified and experienced International Student Academic Advisor who possesses extensive work experience in Australia's higher education sector to provide dedicated support to Omani-sponsored students studying in Australia. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the academic success and well-being of Omani-sponsored students, guiding them through the Australian Higher Education Sector and its regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive academic advice and guidance to Omani-sponsored students on a range of topics, such as academic progress, visas, admission, accommodations, study pathway options, and scholarship modifications, and assist students in understanding and navigating the Australian Higher Education Sector.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with Australian universities, colleges, institutions, and stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate and relevant student records and produce a range of significant documents and reports.
  • Coordinate, implement, and undertake a range of administrative functions relating to student management.
  • Stay informed about the latest developments, programs, and policies in the Australian higher education sector.
  • Monitor and report on student academic performance and progress.
  • Undertake part of the other office duties, including but not limited to general administration, authentication, and follow-up with different departments and stakeholders.
  • applying relevant and applicable Omani and Australian Higher Education policies and procedures in the day-to-day functions of the position.

Qualifications and requirements: 

  • The applicant must hold Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
  • Bachelor's degree from an Australian university.
  • A minimum of three years’ work experience in the Australian higher education sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of Australian universities, academic programs, and regulations.
  • Strong understanding of international student services and support mechanisms.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office and Microsoft Outlook skills are essential.
