We are looking for an inspiring and passionate Superintendent Maintenance Engineering to join our maintenance team at Dampier Ports.
In this key leadership role, you will oversee a team focused on the implementation of engineering solutions for site defects to improve plant reliability, increase plant throughput and ensure the safe operation of assets. Based at one of the largest bulk cargo port terminals in Australia, you will provide leadership, technical direction, and engineering support throughout project lifecycle and provide expert advice across maintenance and reliability engineering processes.
Your enthusiastic approach coupled with your effective communication and leadership skills will see you lead a team of highly motivated of engineers and asset health professionals. You’ll have the ability to steer engineering fundamentals to improve business performance and deliver high value outcomes while providing coaching and mentoring support to your team. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will:
- Coach, guide and mentor a team of engineering professionals
- Provide technical advice to the maintenance and operations teams and connect our central asset specialists to our site operations
- Lead and manage important site improvement projects to optimise plant reliability, availability and maintainability
- Provide engineering assistance for procurement of new assets / components
- Manage change management processes relating to fixed plant and marine maintenance activities
- Identify, generate and report on plant changes and improvement initiatives
- Lead and support failure investigations and plant performance analysis
What you’ll bring
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering with demonstrated experience in an operations, maintenance, engineering or reliability role
- Experience leading a team
- Project management skills with experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously, including project scoping, planning, execution and contractor management
- Knowledge of relevant Australian standards, regulations, acts and codes of practice
- A strong focus towards safety and safe work practices
- Experience in equipment failure investigation using root cause analysis techniques
- C Class Driver’s Licence
- MSIC card or the ability to obtain one will be advantageous

Where you’ll be working
Our port facilities consist of four shipping terminals located on the Pilbara coast at Dampier and Cape Lambert which form an essential part of our logistics process. Each terminal has facilities for train unloading, iron ore stockpiling, product blending and ship loading.
The successful candidate will be required to live residentially in Dampier or Karratha township.
