THE ROLE
Providing the daily care of clients and implementing the therapeutic treatment strategies via these everyday interactions is the key role of the Therapeutic Care Staff. The role of the supervisor will be to lead and model practice in keeping with the model, to provide supervision and support to a group of staff, to co-ordinate the daily functions of the Program, to ensure optimum staff coverage and to ensure the maintenance of practice excellence. This is an exciting, new leadership opportunity for experienced professionals committed to providing a therapeutic approach for children with traumatic backgrounds and complex needs.
The Supervisor is required to share the After-Hours weekend Oncall responsibilities with the Program Manager on a rotational roster. The Program provides an intense therapeutic care experience to children who are experiencing the traumatic aftermath of abuse and neglect. The Program's practice model uses the frameworks and techniques of Trauma & Attachment theories.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
- Lead and co-ordinate a team of Therapeutic Care Staff in providing care, supervision and safety to a group of children living in out of home care for a range of protective reasons, and who require intensive input and specialized management, in order to assist with their positive physical, intellectual, emotional and pro-social development, including the seven life dimensions of the Looking After Children (LAC) framework.
- As a supervisor, to ensure the integrity of the practice model; ensure staff are actively involved with the children in essential daily routines; ensuring staff are providing a high standard of therapeutic care to the children; being actively involved yourself in daily routines with the children; ensuring heathy and nutrition meals are provided to the children.
