The Department employs approximately 2,000 staff and has responsibility for nine prisons and fifteen Community Correctional offices across the state. Duties
The Supervisor, Senior Advisor Aboriginal Programs is responsible for the effective delivery of the Aboriginal Men's Family Violence Program and other Intervention Programs facilitated by the Rehabilitation Programs Branch (RPB). Other programs include; Men's violence programs, sexual offending programs, general offending programs, women's programs, and any other rehabilitation program introduced by DCS. The Supervisor, Senior Advisor Aboriginal Programs is also responsible for the supervision of program delivery staff across Community Corrections and Custodial Services, and is accountable for:
- Line-management and supervision of Aboriginal, and other multi-disciplinary staff within the The Supervisor, Senior Advisor Aboriginal Programs with has a particular focus on cultural supervision and the provision of expert cultural advice to other staff delivering Aboriginal specific programs;
- planning, developing, scheduling and leading the implementation of a service delivery model that ensures quality delivery of DCS' Intervention Programs that meets the needs of the Parole Board, Courts, and offenders and is in line with the Aboriginal Men's Family Violence Program, and other RPB programs;
- establishing cultural leadership and supervision systems to ensure the provision of best practice for group interventions for all staff across the department who are delivering the Aboriginal Men's Family Violence Program and any other identified rehabilitation programs introduced by DCS that fall within the remit of the RPB;
- ensuring the delivery of programs that reflect Aboriginal cultural values and lead to sustained positive outcomes for Aboriginal prisoners and offenders to minimise the incidence of re offending;
- ensuring the development and implementation of culturally-appropriate practice standards to support the delivery of the Aboriginal Men's Family Violence Program and other rehabilitation programs;
- providing high level cultural advice to Regional Directors, Managers Rehabilitation Programs Branch, Director Offender Rehabilitation Services and other Senior Management as required;
- ensuring that program delivery targets are met across the RPB remit;
- facilitating program delivery as required; and
- maintaining accountable and integrated practice through liaison with victims' groups and the evaluation of programs to offenders.
- Section 47 of the Public Sector Act 2009 applies in conjunction with other provisions of the act and other applicable industrial entitlements.
- The incumbent is required to satisfactorily complete a National Criminal History Check;
- A current South Australian Driver's Licence is essential;
- A flexible approach to working hours is required;
- Some interstate and intrastate travel will be required which necessitates overnight absences.

Essential: A degree level qualification in Social Work leading to eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers, OR Current and full registration as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia.

Essential: Appropriate tertiary qualifications in community services, sociology, criminology, justice, correctional practice, social sciences, human services, health or related field.

The successful applicant will be appointed at either classification depending on the qualification and experience held.
