The Opportunity

Due to HenderCare’s continuous growth, we have an opportunity for a Proficient, Advanced or Specialist Behavioural Support Practitioner or higher to join our Allied Health Team in providing disability and aged care services, providing professional assessments, therapy and support for people living with disabilities and older persons.

Working in a multidisciplinary team, the Proficient, Advanced or Specialist Behaviour Support Practitioner's role is to promote and encourage our clients’ skill development, independence, and quality of life as part of HenderCare’s services. This position offers supervision and professional development support and is flexible based on the qualifications held.

About the Role

As a Proficient, Advanced or Specialist Behaviour Support Practitioner you will:

• Undertake relevant assessments to identify causal factors of challenging behaviour in order to establish effective strategies and plans that address the behaviour and enhance the quality of life for the individual.
• Provide coaching, modelling, and support to stakeholders, including but not limited to families, support workers, and key stakeholders to ensure relevant parties.
• Develop both Comprehensive and Interim Behaviour Support plans that meet NDIS Commission requirements for the use of Restricted Practices for clients with complex support needs.
• Implement, capture, and analyse data to monitor the plan’s effectiveness, review challenging behaviour and make any required changes.
• Demonstrate detailed understanding of the NDIS Positive Behaviour Support Capability Framework.
• Provide ongoing mentoring/peer support to Core practitioners.
• Have the opportunity to participate in professional development to grow and enhance your skills.

About You

We are looking for innovative and passionate people who thrive in the fast-paced environment of Allied Health. You’ll show a strong commitment to high-quality client care using positive behaviour support practices, and be able to effectively plan, implement, and evaluate behaviour support plans.

You must have:

• A tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work or other relevant allied health areas is desirable.
• A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience implementing Positive Behaviour Support
• Experience working with clients with a range of complexities using a Positive Behaviour Support approach.
• Well-developed knowledge of person-centred approaches
• Experience and knowledge of challenging behaviour and intellectual disability (desirable)
• Capable of communicating with a range of stakeholders such as parents, families, carers, guardians, advocates and other service providers.
• Demonstrated high-level written and verbal communication skills.

Eligibility to work as an NDIS Commission-approved Proficient, Advanced or Specialist Practitioner is required for this role.
