Support Systems Engineer - Capability

The role
As part of our Naval Combat Systems group, the Support Systems Engineer will be responsible for assisting the Support Systems Engineering Manager (SSEM) with the establishment of the Enterprise Support Solution for the Australian Combat Management System (AusCMS), the definition of the Support System Constituent Capability (SSCC) objectives, and for co-ordinating the efforts to optimise efficiencies and effectiveness to design the underlying Support System.
The Support Systems Engineer is also responsible for developing and defining requirements for subcontractor organisations who deliver part of the Support System scope of work. The Support Systems Engineer will maintain close relationships with internal stakeholders including the ILS team, Combat Systems Engineering, and Project Management, as well as external customers, including the Class specific Program Office.
Further, the successful candidate will:

• Establish the Support System Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), basis of estimates and required documentation of a sustainment activity.
• Conduct Support System trade studies to ensure value for money solutions are obtained through the product lifecycle, detailing trade-offs that can be obtained through acquisition Mission System design costs and ongoing sustainment costs.
• As required, provide input to life cycle cost analysis for combat system acquisition and sustainment scope.
• Provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) knowledge of the SSCC and its relevant application to programs.
• Guide Engineering and Technology on the outcomes of Support System trade studies to enable appropriate design in the Mission System to deliver a value for money solution.
• Lead Support System Working Groups and participate as an active member of other engineering integrated product teams.

Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office and 9 day fortnight will be considered for this role.
About you
Your skills and experience will include:

• Experience in Systems Engineering practices and standards.
• Experience in the application of relevant logistics MIL-STDs.
• Experience in the application of ILS, RAM, LSA techniques to a program.
• Sound understanding of the system development and the inter-relation between the SSCCs.
• Experience in the provision of support services under an ASDEFCON Sustainment Contract.
• An understanding of the application of System Engineering and its relationship to Support Systems Engineering.
• Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to develop creative and innovative solutions.

As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an NV1 clearance.
