About Safe Steps
Safe Steps is Victoria's premier 24/7 family violence response center, dedicated to providing state-wide support to victim-survivors of domestic and family violence. Our services include crisis response, safety planning, and access to supported crisis accommodation. We are committed to a trauma-informed, evidence-based approach, advocating for systemic change to enhance the safety and recovery of victim-survivors.
Job Description:
- Part-Time (0.8 FTE) Across a rotating 7 day roster

- Based in Northern Suburbs
As a Supported Accommodation After Hours Support Worker, you will be integral to our team, providing specialist crisis response services during after-hours to adult and child victim-survivors within our Supported Accommodation Program. This role requires flexibility to work across various Safe Steps locations and adapt to varying shift start times, including weekends.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide overnight support ensuring the safety and well-being of accommodated victim-survivors.
- Manage and complete handover tasks to ensure continuity and quality of service delivery.
- Participate in team activities, demonstrating a supportive approach to enhance team effectiveness.
- Maintain professional development and engage in continuous improvement efforts.
- Adhere to all organisational policies, including health and safety standards.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum Diploma in Community Services or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience in client support, particularly with those affected by domestic, family, and sexual violence.
- Strong understanding of family violence dynamics and trauma-informed care practices.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse cultural and social groups.
- Current Driver’s License, First Aid Certification, and willingness to undergo further training as required.
