MASP is located in Mildura, Victoria.
We're a provider of Supported Independent Living (SIL), which is aimed at assisting NDIS participants to live as independently as possible. We're seeking a compassionate and professional person to work alongside adults with disabilities.
All applicants must be willing to work as part of a team environment, have compassion and empathy and apply attachment and trauma frameworks to their work. This vacancy will suit someone who is qualified, currently studying or considering studying a Cert IV or Diploma Community Services or equivalent, or a social work degree or equivalent.
The SIL Worker assists NDIS participants in the development of independent life skills through teaching and modelling positive behaviours, with the aim of helping them achieve their goals, as set out in their NDIS plan.
As well as contributing to the day-to-day running of the SIL house, the SIL Worker assists participants to arrange and access activities and appointments, to administer medication, and to link to support services.
Expected commencing salary of $41.46 to $46.34 per hour (depending on qualification) plus statutory superannuation. Because MASP is a non-profit organisation, you also have the option to maximise your income through salary packaging.
Essential role-specific skills, knowledge, and experience:
- Ability to deliver effective client-centred case management practices
- Demonstrated experience engaging with clients from diverse backgrounds and with complex needs
- Ability to advocate on behalf of, and in the interests of disadvantaged people
- Competent use of Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Current unrestricted drivers licence
- Effective organisational and time management skills with strong attention to detail
- Experience in analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to apply a range of intervention strategies, effective behaviour management skills
- Possesses sound negotiation and assertiveness skills
- Verbal communication – articulates clear and respectful messages and information to clients, team members and colleagues
- Interpersonal skills – demonstrates appropriate interpersonal skills, active listening, empathy, social awareness, and emotional intelligence in verbal communications
Highly desirable role-specific skills, knowledge, and experience:
- Experience in a not for profit / charitable organisation
- Formal qualifications in Disability, Community Services, or similar
- Knowledge of the issues affecting people with a disability, the influences and effects of the social environment and advocating with and on behalf of those who are disadvantaged
