The Blair Athol Coal mine is located 24km northwest of the family-friendly township of Clermont in Central Queensland, 120 km northwest of Emerald and 275km southwest of Mackay.

The Role
We are currently seeking a highly motivated Surveyor Assistant to join our team at Blair Athol. You will assist the Surveyor in providing support for survey control to facilitate execution of mine activities including topsoil, stripping, overburden removal, coal mining, drilling/blasting, rehabilitation and associated projects around the mine. The right candidate will also forge a pathway towards further qualifications within the mine engineering team.
Responsibilities of the Role will include:
- Provide survey services and set out control points to ensure the accurate location and layout of work within the limits, offsets, grades, profiles and elevations for all mining related processes in accordance with the mine design criteria
- Conduct survey operations with drones, laser scanners and GPS and process the data to meet the required schedules
- Process survey data accurately and complete volume quantities
- Measure distances, angles and variations across site as directed
- Identify & escalate any non-conformance or processes that require corrective action.
Skills and Experience:
- A good work ethic, great communication skills and a desire to learn and grow
- A strong commitment to safety
- Survey or operational experience within a civil or mining environment
- Ability to prioritise and schedule work
- Ability to accurately measure and interpret data
- Competent user of MS Office tools
