ABOUT THE ROLE
This role is a permanent position preferably based in our corporate head office in the heart of Perth's CBD, although candidates from other locations will be considered.
As a Sustainability Communications Professional, you will be responsible for providing external communications leadership and support to develop South32's sustainability positioning and disclosures to meet the growing expectations of our stakeholders regarding our approach to sustainability and associated performance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the company's external positioning strategy to promote South32's approach to sustainability and report on performance.
- Working closely with key internal stakeholders, develop the company's public positions on material sustainability topics.
- Provide communications support to the company's key sustainability disclosures that form part of our Annual Reporting Suite, including the Sustainable Development Report and climate change disclosures.
- Partner with the business to identify, develop and publish case studies and stories that demonstrate our approach to sustainability in practice.
- Proactively prepare issues briefs, key messages and other materials to assist with issues management on sustainability matters.
- Work with our digital team to enhance the quality and availability of sustainability information on our website and social media channels.
- Maintain an awareness of best practice and emerging trends in the communication of sustainability information and performance, and apply this to continuously improve the company's sustainability disclosures.
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
- Significant experience in sustainability related communications and/or corporate reporting for a publicly listed company.
- Knowledge of current and emerging sustainability reporting standards and frameworks is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of and hands-on experience in developing and executing communications plans and strategies.
- Strong writing skills are paramount, along with the ability to understand and interpret complex information and simplify it for a range of audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to develop effective working relationships across multiple levels of a large organisation.
- A minimum of 10 years' experience in a directly related environment, ideally in an organisation(s) with a global presence.
- Resources industry experience preferred.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, sustainability or a related field.
- Interesting and meaningful work with a global, diversified producer of commodities critical to a low-carbon future.
