Administration Assistant – Intensive Care Unit

  • Part Time ongoing position – 32 hours per fortnight
  • Support the day-to-day running of our ICU in a supportive team
  • Located at The Royal Melbourne Hospital City Campus – Parkville
The Royal Melbourne Hospital is an award-winning health care service and is Victoria’s second largest public health service. We provide comprehensive acute, sub-acute, general, specialist medical and mental health services through both inpatient and community based facilities through the following services: The Royal Melbourne Hospital – City Campus, The Royal Melbourne Hospital – Royal Park Campus, North Western Mental Health, RMH Kidney Care Service and Victorian Infectious Diseases Reference Laboratory.The Royal Melbourne Hospital is a world-class teaching hospital and one of Victoria’s largest Trauma Centres. ICU currently consists of 42 beds and provides care to over 3000 patients each year, including Cardiothoracic, Trauma, Neurosurgical, Oncology and Medical-surgical patients. The unit also supports patients within the precinct who may require Intensive Care Services including the Women’s and Peter McCullum Hospital as part of the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Model of care.We are looking for a passionate administration assistant to join our Intensive Care Unit team. This is a part time permanent position, working 32 hours per fortnight, based within the Royal Melbourne Hospital Intensive Care Unit administration area. This position plays a vital role in the day to day running of ICU administration and supporting key personnel within our team including the ICU Director and the Nurse Unit Manager.Your new role:
  • Provide administrative support for the ICU Director, Nurse Unit Manager, Deputies and designated committees / workgroups of the ICU, including taking minutes, and preparing and distributing correspondence, reports and presentations, on behalf of the ICU Leadership Team.
  • Assist with organising events and workshops.
  • Liaise with key internal and external stakeholders, directing general queries regarding RMH and ICU events.
  • Coordinate pay for medical staff through our rostering system.
About you:
  • You have previous administration experience in a medical/hospital setting.
  • You have great prioritisation skills and work well in a busy environment.
  • You are a skilled communicator with demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is highly desirable.
