The Opportunity
Reporting to the Executive Manger Environment and Sustainability, this position is a key role in the delivery of WSA's environmental and sustainability objectives across the construction phases through to operations.
In the position you will support the Executive Manager to ensure compliance to the environmental management systems and delivery of key sustainability aspects to achieve the highest possible outcomes for WSA.
The role will have the opportunity to deliver unique programs across the airport to support WSA's long term commitment to the environment and leading in Sustainability.
Key responsibilities
- Work closely with the Environment Manager to co-ordinate environmental and sustainability delivery across construction and operations of the airport.
- Assist in the development of the Environmental Management System, including sustainability components for the operation of an international airport.
- Support and advise in the assurance processes of the WSA Environmental Management Plans and Sustainability Plan for both construction and operations.
- Assist in the preparation of meeting and presentation material.
- Manage data collection and review for relevant reporting and input to key documents, including board reporting, TCFD, annual and compliance reports.
- Liaise with relevant internal stakeholders and support the wider business regarding sustainability across construction and operations.
- Assist in the management of energy and carbon modelling, compliance and reporting in collaboration with the energy and carbon specialist.
- Establish, manage and implement operational sustainability rating assessment tools.
- Contribute to identifying risks and implementing controls to manage environment and sustainability aspects and impacts.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of environmental and sustainability enhancement projects e.g. circular economy, waste initiatives and Reconciliation Action Plan.
- Develop and manage the operational sustainability KPI's, tracking and reporting.
- Develop environmental training material for construction environmental management and sustainability delivering during operations.
- Assist in the preparation of impact assessments to identify, assess and reduce WSA's sustainability and environmental risks and financial costs.
- Assist in leading the Sustainability Working Group and Steer Co
- Identify and develop sustainability initiatives and programs to assist in achieving WSA Sustainability goals
- Maintain understanding and knowledge of key policies, strategies and legislation changes applicable to environment and sustainability.
- Manage the day-to-day delivery of the WSA Sustainability Strategy, Sustainability Plan and other key sustainability outcomes.
About You
- Tertiary degree qualification in Environmental Engineering, Sustainability or Science or a related discipline.
- 7+ years' experience in a similar role in aviation, consultancy or construction
- Strong understanding of sustainability.
- Sound critical thinking and analytical skills.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to establish and maintain effective communication channels.
- Highly motivated and proactive.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office packages.
- Demonstrate excellent record keeping, time-management and project management skills.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Proactive, resourceful with demonstrated initiative and ability to work autonomously on specific projects as required.
- Ability to identify and communicate problems and work with the team to develop a range of solutions.
- Excellent skills and experience building trusting and collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Able to work effectively both independently and as part of the team.
- Extensive customer service/client service experience with demonstrated ability to liaise on a professional level with a diverse client/stakeholder group.
