Kirby Swim is one of WA's largest private Swim Schools. We are passionate about swimming and love to share our passion with our clients.
Our team is close knit and highly motivated to continue to grow and develop our programs, we aim to deliver the best quality swimming lessons, that are fun, engaging, technically superior and progress students through a well-honed continuum.
The Operations/Centre manager is the team leader at our centres.
Due to internal expansion we have 2 roles available:
- Harrisdale
- Melville
These are purpose built pools that cater for baby to squad level students. Our team has a great vibe, we are very passionate, and the Operations role is to continually develop and manage the team and facility to be the best in WA.
Whilst experience in the swimming industry is preferred, we are seeking the right leader and person for the role, and swim skills can be taught. If you have experience that you feel is transferable please feel free to apply.
Job tasks and responsibilities
The core duties of this position are:
- Team leadership and development both in teaching and customer service
- Maintenance of a high quality water and pool deck environment.
- Staff training, facilitation, rostering and development.
- Problem solving class issues, and coming up with ways to 'wow' our customers.
- Financial management and planning of centre activities.
- Maintaining a safe place environment for children, staff and customers.

Skills and experience
This role is one that encompasses management of 50-80 staff (seasonally). Effective people management and team leading is at the core of this role.
You should be a great team player and have experience in the effective development and management of a team. Knowing about children's development and the parent's role in swimming lessons is desirable and being able to 'see the big picture' of the role of swimming in a child's development is also key.
Other qualifications that are desirable but not essential include:
- Current and relevant Swim Instructor Qualifications
- Current Pool Operations Qualification
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (essential).
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
- Experience in the supervision and training of staff
- Current Working with Children Check (essential)
