Sydney Children's Hospitals Network is the largest paediatric health care entity in Australia. We care for thousands of children each year in our hospitals and in their homes — with one purpose in mind — to help young people live their healthiest lives.
The aim of the State-Wide Infant Screening-Hearing (SWISH) program is to screen all newborn infants for hearing loss in their first few days of life prior to discharge home from their birth hospital.
The SWISH ( Statewide Infant Screening Hearing ) service has some vacant positions and are looking for the right candidates. We service all public and private hospitals in SESAHS ( South East Sydney Local Health District ) so you will be required and willing to work across various sites on maternity wards screening babies for hearing loss .
We are a morning service with core hours of operation being between 7.30am-1.30pm, with the latest start time 9am. Shifts are generally 4 hours and sometimes stretch to 5 hours as needed.
We will be recruiting up to 12 hours with opportunity for multiple applicants to have various hours with an opportunity for casual hours. Please bring your preferences to be discussed at interview.
These hours will be based in hospitals out of the St George and Sutherland areas and NOT at Sydney Children's Hospital.

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Previous experience working with newborns or babies preferably in a hospital setting
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Demonstrate effective time management skills and is attentive to details
  • Basic computer skills with willingness to learn to use various systems
  • Evidence of study and /or qualification in a related field

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
