As part of our Maritime group, the System Safety Engineer will independently perform, direct and supervise complex Safety Engineering tasks on the specification, design, development, verification or support of a system
Further, the successful candidate will:
- Plan cost-effective and integrated System Safety programs that meet programmatic objectives.
- Advise, coach and guide project teams on the conduct of System Safety programs.
- Perform System Safety program tasks according to approved System Safety program plans.
- Perform hazard analysis tasks covering both physical and functional hazards.
- Perform design evaluation, engineering change and System Problem Report safety analyses.
- Prepare and maintain system hazard logs.
- Produce safety assessment reports / safety case reports.
About you
Your skills and experience will include:
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or related discipline
- Experienced in Safety Engineering of complex, software intensive systems.
- Experienced in working with multi-discipline teams, customers and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of contemporary Safety Engineering processes, standards and best practice, for example MIL-STD-882 or IEC 61508.
- Experience in preparing Safety Engineering artefacts to US DoD or ASDEFCON Data Item Descriptions [desirable]
- Experience in applying Safety Engineering to maritime combat systems [desirable]
