The NTT team in Canberra is looking for someone with a background in Desktop Support (Windows 10 and Windows 11), who is looking to make the move into managing servers and become a Systems Engineer.
Systems Engineers are responsible for managing desktop and server operating systems and hardware, hypervisor and associated applications and tools in client environments and in the CSOC hosted Private Government Cloud (PGC) and operations platform. Systems engineers also provide on-site support to client end users.
The Canberra Secure Operations Centre (CSOC) is a team within the Managed Services Delivery group providing services to Public and Private sector clients that require support of protected Infrastructure, systems and applications needing security clearance. The CSOC provides Platform, Application, Network and Security services to clients and internal NTT business units.
Managed Services supports day-to-day operations, across multivendor hybrid IT environments. Engineers ensure client IT infrastructure, systems and solutions remain operational through proactively identifying, investigating, and resolving technical issues, restoring service, and facilitating the automated management and control of these systems.
This role is supporting clients that require an Australian Citizen with NV1 Clearance
Working at NTT
- Monitor client infrastructure and solutions
- Perform initial triage and ticket assignment / queue management tasks
- Identify problems and errors prior to or when they occur
- Routinely identify common incidents and opportunities for avoidance as well as general opportunities for incident reduction
- Investigate first line incidents assigned and identify the root cause of incidents and problems
- Fulfil approved requests following agreed procedures
- Execute approved maintenance activities including patching and configuration changes
- Report and escalate incidents where necessary
- Ensure the efficient and comprehensive resolutions of incidents and requests
- Update existing knowledge articles or create new ones
- Identify opportunities for work optimisation including opportunities for automation of work, request fulfilment, incident resolution and other general process improvement opportunities.
- Provide on-site support to client end users.
- Operate within Security and Compliance frameworks
- Understand and comply with the requirements of being part of a 24x7 on-call operation.
Core Technologies - experience in Windows Desktop Operating Systems (Windows 10 and Windows 11)
Once you join, you will gain exposure to:
Windows Server including Active Directory, SCCM/WSUS, VMware; Messaging & Collaboration: Exchange, Teams, O365; Citrix: Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktop and Netscaler; Linux; Hyperscale Cloud; Azure / AWS; Backup: Data Domain, Veeam, Networker, Automation technologies: Ansible, Jenkins; Scripting: Powershell, Bash, Python
- 2-3 years’ experience in Windows Desktop Operating Systems (Windows 10 and Windows 11)
- Familiarity / experience with any of the technology specialisations is a plus
- Managed Services experience also a plus
- Excellent knowledge and experience in ticketing tools, preferably Service Now
- Any of the following are highly regarded: Bachelor’s degree in IT or a related discipline; ITIL Foundation certification v3 / v4; MCSA / MCSE certification; VMWare (VCP) certification; Azure / AWS Certifications
- Excellent client service orientation and passion for achieving or exceeding expectations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to communicate and work across different cultures and social groups.
- Ability to plan activities and projects well in advance and consider possible changing circumstances.
