Then we want to hear from you.The DetailsClearance: NV1Location: Enoggera, QLDStart: Estimate, April 2024Contract End: June 2026Full time employment possible for this role: $115,000 - $118,000k + superApplications close: Please apply ASAPThe System Safety Engineer will be responsible to the UASMU Chief Engineer and Deputy Chief Engineer for the engineering function of UAS system safety assigned to UASMU in accordance with all current and future guidance. The System Safety Engineer will be led by the UASMU Chief Engineer, who will be responsible for achieving goals through planning, organising, controlling and directing the engineering team members of UASMU including contractors, APS and Military personnel.Deliverables
- Upholds Defence and UASMU behaviours, values and culture
- Focus on system safety (e.g. look for ways to improve system safety; assist and prepare for Reliability Program, SSWG, AASPC, AwB etc.; and assist the Deputy Chief Engineer with safety initiatives)
- Managing the system safety aspects for TUAS platforms
- Provide oversight and guidance to TUAS acquisition projects via leadership of a UAS System Safety Integrated Project Team
- Provide oversight and guidance to the TUAS engineering team on system safety issues
- Provide advice and guidance on system Safety Engineering analysis techniques, processes, and software assurance necessary for design and implementation
- Conduct reviews of system safety contract deliverables, as well as sustainment and acquisition documentation.
- Mentor and develop engineering staff on system safety
- Conducting system safety and capability risk assessments.
- Prepare, coordinate and lead each in-service platform SSWG.
- Consult and engage with UAS platform stakeholders on system safety risks assessments
- Improving and enhancing UAS system safety and associated processes
- Follow AASB and tailored UAS EMS
- Work collaboratively with the Small UAS system Safety Engineer in order to develop positive outcomes for both UAS classes.
- Assist with QMS activities and tasks
- Develop and Review Plans/Reports/Documents/Artefacts
- Assisting the CENG, D/CENG, Sustainment Manager(s) and broader UASMU program as required
- Assist in developing and implementing organisational objectives for system safety within UASMU and influencing the broader UAS community
