Job description:

  • Security Operations Group ( SOG ) including Extreme High Security Escort Unit

Your role

This role provides a high standard of security, assistance and support to General Managers, senior management, and officers in charge of correctional centres within NSW to assist in the maintenance of good order, discipline, safety, and security of correctional centres. Providing a high standard of continuous static and dynamic security in the containment and oversight of Extreme High Risk Restricted inmate / Extreme High Security offender activities to contribute to the safety, security, welfare, development and rehabilitation of inmates and the safety of the public, in compliance with the direction of the Courts and Departmental policies and procedures.

The Security Operations Group provides an exceptional operating standard for the management of critical incidents, high risk escorts by ensuring appropriate planning, threat assessments and sound operational decision making with specialised training. The Security Operation Group works closely with other external law enforcement agencies and key stakeholders ensuring professionalism and upholding CSNSW client service standards.

What we're looking for

As a standout candidate for this role, you will have proven leadership abilities, excellent conflict resolution skills, strategic thinking, excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, be resilient and possess a strong work ethic and high level of integrity in line with CSNSW core values.

You must be prepared to work a rotating roster, including weekend and shift work, travel to any location within NSW, and at times spend extended periods away from your residence including afterhours and emergency call outs. You will be required to pass the standard Security Operations Group fitness test prior to progressing to a selection day.

Essential requirements

  • Certificate III in Correctional Practice or appropriate and relevant custodial experience
  • Possess a valid NSW Driver's Licence and be able to drive official vehicles
  • Maintain a high level of commitment to the role requirements
  • Willingness to respond to serious incidents and work alongside other Security & Custody teams and external law enforcement agencies
  • Work in partnership with the Immediate Action Teams
  • Successfully complete any relevant training courses required to maintain proficiency within the Security Operations Group (Security Operations Group Induction Course)
  • Successfully complete and maintain the Security Operations Group fitness test
  • Successfully complete the Emergency Response Operators Course (EROC)
  • Successfully complete the Extreme High Security Escort Course

Essential certifications

  • Hold or be willing to obtain relevant base qualification required to undertake the role i.e. Glock
  • Hold or be willing to obtain a Chemical Munitions Operations Certification (CMOC)
  • Hold or be willing to obtain an Emergency Response Operators certification (EROC)
  • Hold or be willing to obtain qualification in the Extreme High Security Escort Course

Additional requirements depending on role selection

  • Meet satisfactory probity and National Security Clearances. The successful applicants will be required to be an Australian Citizen and obtain National Security Clearance to ‘Secret' level within 6 months of appointment to the role.
  • Possess a sound knowledge of court operations and understanding of reception and discharge procedures movement orders, warrants and bails.
