About the Opportunity
An exciting career development opportunity has arisen for a Tax Accountant to join the ASC Group's Tax Team. The Tax Accountant will support the Group Tax Team with meeting its objectives and support the broader ASC business on all tax-related matters. The Tax Accountant will provide tax compliance and advisory support to the Group Tax Team, in order to assist the ASC Group to meet its tax reporting obligations in Australia and in foreign jurisdictions.
The successful candidate will also be required to support the Group Tax Function as it navigates through a period of significant change. This change is due to ASC being selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build the nation’s nuclear-powered submarines, resulting in a range of international tax considerations across multiple foreign jurisdictions.
The Tax Accountant role is a permanent full-time opportunity based in Osborne, South Australia.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the delivery of all tax compliance activities required for the ASC Group in Australia and the foreign jurisdictions in which it operates (including income tax, FBT, GST and employment taxes)
- Assist with the preparation of half-year and full year tax effect accounting calculations, financial statement disclosures and monthly tax accounting journals
- Preparation of the ASC Group’s monthly Business Activity Statement (BAS)
- Support the Group Tax Team to drive continuous improvement of the Group Tax Function
- Ensuring the Group Tax Function operates within the parameters of the ASC Group’s Tax Risk Management and Governance Framework
- Provide accurate and timely ad-hoc tax advice as required by the Group Tax Team
- Build and cultivate relationships within the broader ASC business to increase tax knowledge and awareness across the organisation, and
- Provide assistance and guidance to the Corporate Finance Team on tax matters, tax payment forecasting and other financial accounting assistance where required.
About you
- Tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Finance or Accounting
- CA / CPA certification
- Graduate Diploma of Taxation / Professional Membership in the Taxation Institute of Australia (highly desirable)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in corporate taxation roles with sound working understanding of Australian taxation law (including income tax, FBT, GST and employment taxes)
- Exposure to international corporate taxation including assisting with the management of tax obligations for overseas subsidiaries, permanent establishments, transfer pricing and international expatriate taxation arrangements
- Sound working knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, corporate statutory reporting requirements and financial arrangements
- Exposure to Tax Risk Management and Governance Frameworks requirements of Top 1000 taxpayers and experience in reviewing/improving tax governance policies, procedures and controls
- Familiarity with ERP systems, tax technology (CCH Integrator) and Microsoft Excel to support the delivery of tax deliverables
- Ability to contribute in a team environment by collaborating and developing relationships with colleagues, and
- A willingness to continuous learning and professional development.
Eligibility
This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
