Position Summary:
We are seeking a Consultant, to join our highly skilled specialist tax team who work on a wide range of clients and industries. You will be an integral member of the Taxation Division, responsible for preparing various types of taxation returns and providing taxation advice to clients, as well as being involved in the research, authorship and review of the Firm’s electronic and paper taxation publications. There will also be the opportunity to assist experienced team members with ad hoc special projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft client correspondence.
- Assist with research and prepare tax advice.
- Prepare and present accurate taxation returns and workpapers and address basic client queries.
- Update and review taxation publications to the standard required by the Firm.
- Draft tax newsletters.
- Review the taxation implications of prospectuses and undertake due diligence work.
- Become a competent user of commonly used tax references.
- Research issues and access tax information from the ATO and various Government bodies.
- Develop an area of expertise recognised throughout the Firm.
- Provide feedback and guidance to more junior members of staff, and act as a buddy.
- Other general administrative matters such as maintenance of electronic timesheets and billing, etc.
- Other duties as requested by the Tax Managers or Tax Partners.
Skills and experience:
- A minimum of 12 months experience working in a Taxation environment within a Chartered/CPA accounting practice.
- Degree qualified and have commenced or intend to commence their CA/CPA studies.
- Technically proficient with latest taxation law and accounting developments.
- Ability to work with junior members of staff by providing them with support and guidance.
- Ability to identify any issues for discussion with the appropriate Manager.
- Prior experience working with and developing good client relationships.
- Good time management skills and ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines for a large group of clients.
- Present professionally and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Prior experience working with APS/Solution 6 and be competent in using Microsoft applications.
