About the Role:
As the Tax Investigator you will form an integral part of the audit and investigation work to support compliance with State taxation legislation. The role encompasses a detailed approach to gather statistics, analyse data, and obtain evidence to determine compliance with complex taxation legislation requirements.
Job status: Multiple roles are available on a fixed term or ongoing basis
Key Responsibilities:
Contribute to the successful achievement of Compliance Services business objectives by:
- Individually, or as a part of a team, undertake research, audits and investigations in respect to the affairs of members of the private and public sectors.
- Provide a high level of customer service to inform taxpayers of RevenueSA policy in order to encourage and facilitate compliance.
- Undertake investigations based on gathered evidence and intelligence and provide solutions to support the administration of the State tax legislation
- Manage a case load of varied investigations in collaboration with a team or individually.
Key Requirements:
- Appropriate Tertiary qualification in law, commerce, accounting, conveyancing, business or related areas (Desirable).
- A good working knowledge of commercial accounting principles and an investigative ability to ascertain the substance of transactions and working arrangements behind the legal form
- A working knowledge of corporate structures, including trusts (desirable)
- Capacity for clear, creative and analytical thinking.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to undertake casework, self-motivate and successfully meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Commitment to provide quality investigation work and to operate in a professional manner.
Remuneration: ASO4 ($75,430 - $79,070)
