We offer over more than 400 courses, from Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE)/ Victorian Certificate of Education Vocational Major (VCE VM)/ Vocational Education and Training Delivered to Secondary Students (VETDSS), through to nationally accredited qualifications such as certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas, degrees, graduate certificates, graduate diplomas and short courses.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Teacher – Barbering, you will provide professional teaching and vocational expertise, across all aspects of delivery, planning and performance to ensure excellent outcomes for learners, the organisations that employ them and the communities they serve.

Focusing on excellence in planning and conducting teaching and assessment, your key accountabilities will be to:

• Plan education practices and delivery sessions that reflect the most effective way to engage learners
• Develop and deliver planned teaching sessions in a variety of innovative and adaptive ways, using technology to engage learners
• Ensure that teaching materials and resources meet all regulatory standards, training packages and related requirements
• Establish and maintain a positive learning environment, including encouraging students to take responsibility for their own learning
• Work collaboratively with industry to align current and emerging industry needs and facilitate relevant and responsive delivery models that engage learners
• Work with learners to improve their employability and life skills
• Ensure high quality, up to date and relevant teaching delivery, assessment and student engagement strategies to support learner success and contribute to the achievement of Chisholm shared goals
• Maintain professional development to ensure industry and educational currency and excellence and actively participating in the development of own annual professional development plan in line with Institute practices and policies

ABOUT YOU

You will have relevant tertiary qualifications as follows:

• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116) or qualifications that meet the RTO Standards
• Vocational qualifications at AQF level 3 or higher in Barbering
• Vocational currency as demonstrated through a range of work and related experience in the areas of assisting with client services and hairdressing, including men’s haircutting
• A record of Vocational Competency, mapped to Units of Competency engaged to deliver
• A record of Professional Currency, demonstrating current industry and teaching knowledge

You will have the ability to quickly develop rapport with students and colleagues from a diverse background in a collaborative and innovative environment, as well as having a firm understanding of educational administration tools and practices.
