Position Information
Berala Public School is located in South Western Sydney in the Chullora Network. We have an enrolment of 725 students. The school aims to provide students an engaging, inclusive and challenging learning environment to build strong foundations for future success. Our school is supported by a strong and vibrant multicultural community and a supportive P&C. Our Arabic, Chinese and Turkish Community language program supports students in maintaining and developing further communicative competence in their home language. At Berala Public School, 94% of our students have a language background other than English. Our school also has as a small number of students who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. Our students come from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds, with 48% of our families in the bottom quarter of Socio-Educational advantage. Our school provides an abundance of extra-curricular opportunities in the areas of sport, creative and performing arts, environmental groups and social and emotional support clubs to enable our students to excel through a range of different experiences.
Specific Selection Criteria
Approval to teach infants and primary (K-6) with the knowledge and understanding to develop and deliver high quality differentiated teaching and learning programs in literacy and numeracy.
Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, staff and wider community.
Ability to implement effective classroom management skills and an ability to maintain a positive learning environment to enhance student wellbeing.
Willingness and capacity to support extracurricular programs, including sport, within the school to build positive relationships and contribute to a positive school culture.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
