Position Title: Teacher – Engineering - Fixed and Mobile Plant Mechanic – Defence Delivery
Mode: Full-time, Ongoing  
Salary Range: $78,564 to $111,391 p.a (dependent on qualifications & experience) plus superannuation
Location: HMAS Cerberus

We offer more than 400 courses, from Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE)/Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL)/ Vocational Education and Training Delivered to Secondary Students (VETDSS), through to nationally accredited qualifications such as certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas, degrees, graduate certificates, graduate diplomas and short courses.

 
ABOUT THE ROLE 

The teacher, Engineering - Fixed and Mobile Plant Mechanic provides professional teaching and vocational expertise, across all aspects of delivery, planning and performance to ensure excellent outcomes for learners, the organisations that employ them and the communities they serve.

 Your key accountabilities will be to:

  • Plan education practices and delivery sessions that reflect the most effective way to engage learners
  • Develop and deliver planned teaching sessions in a variety of innovative and adaptive ways, using technology, including Moodle, to engage learners and meet their needs and learning styles
  • Design and develop high quality teaching and learning resources including tailored materials in a range of formats to suit varying learning styles
  • Ensure that teaching materials and resources meet all regulatory standards, training packages and related requirements
  • Establish and maintain a positive learning environment, including encouraging students to take responsibility for their own learning
  • Engage with employers and industry representatives to adapt teaching materials and content to meet industry and employer needs and are current
  • Proactively support the effective use of Institute learning resources and meet student needs by increasing the use of blended learning options, workplace or offsite delivery and Mobile technologies

 
ABOUT YOU

You will have relevant tertiary qualification:

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40116 
  • Vocational qualifications at an AQF level based on level of teaching required and be able to teach across all year levels and competencies of the trade 
  • Vocational currency as demonstrated through a range of work and related experience
  • Registration with relevant professional association/s (as required for the specific discipline)
  • A record of Vocational Competency, mapped to Units of Competency engaged to deliver
  • A record of Professional Currency, demonstrating current industry and teaching knowledge

 You will agree to obtain a security clearance issued by an authorised vetting agency (Baseline Security Clearance). This requirement is subjected to successful job offer.

 Crucial to your success will be your demonstrated ability to motivate and guide students to optimise their learning outcomes by using effective verbal and written communication skills relevant to a learning environment and collaborative workplace. 

 You will also possess well-developed skills in transferring knowledge, including the ability to research, select and use a wide range of learning resources and assessment tools combined with a strong understanding of contemporary approaches to education, teaching and learning.
