Appointment Pool

Morley Senior High School is seeking to establish a pool of English Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2025. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2025.

Suitable applicants should ideally be expert, passionate teachers of English and Literature with a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning. They should be able to display an excellent knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and experience in developing and delivering a broad spectrum of English curriculum, using a wide range of teaching models. Qualifications and experience in teaching Literature will be considered highly desirable.

Ideally applicants will be inclusive in their practice and be able to cultivate a safe and accountable learning environment for students in varying ability levels across Year 7-12. Suitable applicants will be highly proficient in motivating and engaging students through their relevant and meaningful learning programs and be able to demonstrate the effective use of information and communication technologies in the teaching of English and Literature.

The successful applicants will ideally possess excellent interpersonal skills and be relationship focused with the expectation that they are able to take on course leadership responsibilities. Building positive relationships with students, student and the community are important components of the role. You should have a strong evidence-based approach to teaching, are reflective in assessing the effectiveness of your teaching practice to support professional growth and be able to display how your pedagogy has actively resulted in improved outcomes and progression for your students.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

Employees will be required to:

  • Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
  • Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment.
  • Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
  • Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements.
  • Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
  • Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter.
  • Complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement.
  • Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
