Appointment Pool

Lynwood Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to establish a pool of enthusiastic English Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise for the start of Term 2, 2024. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year. 

Suitable applicants with a deep knowledge of the Year 7 to 12 English curriculum will be highly regarded. Outstanding application of assessment and reporting practices, which include a high level of data analysis skills to monitor the progress of students and classes; along with experience in planning and delivering programs for a range of student’s capabilities, including academic extension and special education needs, is desirable.

Ideally, suitable candidates will be highly motivated, student and relationship focused, and able to provide engaging, relevant, and meaningful learning experiences. Working within a dynamic team, the successful applicant will utilise their highly effective interpersonal skills to work closely with students, colleagues, and the community to assist students to achieve to their potential.

The following additional elements would be highly desirable:

  • Experience teaching students from non-English speaking backgrounds and EALD.
  • Experience teaching Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) and General Senior School classes, including Foundation.
  • Experience in engaging students in outreach programs.
  • Experience in planning and delivering programs for students who are academically motivated and students who require a modified curriculum as intervention.

Actively implementing Lynwood’s approach to Tier 1 consistent practice, using high impact teaching strategies and the principles of Explicit Instruction (EI), will be central to the position. 

Lynwood SHS is an Independent Public School that caters for students in Years 7 to 12. We have a reputation for our outstanding approach to the care of every student, together with a commitment to their academic success across all our programs in the school.

With an Index of Community Socio-Educational Advantage (ICSEA) of 975 (Band 6), we have around 49% Language Background other than English (LBOTE) and over 60 different nationalities represented at the school. ELIGIBILITY

Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
  • meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements;
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
