Young High School is a rural comprehensive High School located in Wiradjuri Country approximately 4 hours south-west of Sydney and 2 hours from Canberra and Wagga Wagga. We have a strong focus on academic growth and developing resilience, empathy, acceptance and teamwork across the school community. The school has an enrolment of 530 students from diverse social backgrounds, including 13% Aboriginal students and an increasing Muslim student enrolment which is currently 8%. In addition we have a support unit consisting of 5 support multi categorical ( MC ) classes. The school works closely with the local community. The school receives significant equity funding which allows for the introduction of new programs and initiatives to boost student-learning outcomes. - Approval to teach English ( Years 7 -12) and Drama ( Years 7-12 ) and a willingness to develop a range of extra -curricular activities and opportunities for the students in these areas.
- Demonstrated capacity to use data and evidenced based classroom practice and deliver engaging, challenging and differentiated programs that meet student learning needs and foster a culture of high expectations.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively on faculty and whole school projects and the ability to build positive relationships with staff, students, parents and the community.
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Department of Education's Aboriginal Education policies and the ability to improve the educational outcomes of aboriginal and Torres strait Islander students.
The successful applicant may be eligible to receive a one-off recruitment payment of $20,000. (Conditions apply)
A relocation support package of $5,000 up to $8,000 will be available for eligible applicants.
