About the Role
This role will suit someone who is relationship-focused, highly motivated, and passionate about creating exciting Health & Physical Education learning experiences, help foster the community’s love of sport, and engage with the community and other schools in developing exciting sporting activities (School and Interschool Carnivals, in-school sports events, etc).
The Ideal Teacher
The successful applicant will ideally be a conscientious, flexible, and innovative teacher who is committed to the development of the whole child. You will ideally be actively involved both within the school and wider community, highly reflective of your teaching practices and committed to evidence-based decision making and differentiation. You will work in teams to collaborate, moderate, and develop programs of work that meet individual student needs. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a willingness to collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external networks to establish strong community partnerships are highly regarded.
The successful applicant will ideally possess the professional knowledge, practices, and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant curriculum using a positive, student-focused approach and have success working with students across a range of ability levels, including multi-age/split year groups. An understanding and/or experience in the school’s whole school programs is ideal.
The successful applicant will ideally be relationship focused with a consistent and transparent classroom management approach and a willingness to adopt the whole school Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) approach to behaviour management. You should be enthusiastic, seek opportunities for innovation and leadership and possess the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Our School
Wiluna RCS caters for Kindergarten to Year 12 students and has a population of between 60 and 80 students. Our school staff are committed to connecting learning to the Martu Calendar, our local curriculum. The Calendar was created by local families over the last few years and ensures that learning is connected to country and culture.
Most students come from the town and the largest community at Bondini about 6 km east. Wiluna also attracts students from the Kutkabubba Community, 36 km north. A school bus provides transport to and from school for these students.

Wiluna is a culturally special and historically unique place, surrounded by desert, waterways and cultural areas. We are situated 1000 km northeast of Perth and 550 km north of Kalgoorlie.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;

- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
