Are you a passionate teacher of Humanities & Social Sciences seeking to empower every student to strive to achieve?

Denmark Senior High School (SHS) is an Independent Public School seeking to appoint a highly competent, creative and innovative Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) teacher to join their team commencing in mid-term three (3), 2024.

We are seeking a highly reflective practitioner who will ideally promote an environment of active and positive learning where success is celebrated and provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve their very best. The successful applicant will ideally ideally possess a capacity to deliver a curriculum which is engaging, relevant and meaningful to students. Possessing the skills to differentiate the curriculum to cater for a range of abilities, including special needs, is essential. Demonstrated capacity in ATAR Geography curriculum delivery will best meet the business needs of the school, acknowledging that the role will include Year 7 to 10 HASS classes.

Key to this role is that the successful applicant is caring; curious about learning and about learners; willing to be invested in the school and the community; and be reflective of themselves and their practice. The successful applicant will ideally plan strategically for positive outcomes and with high professional knowledge in instructional practice. They will aim to sustain a culture that promotes educational best practice and possess excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.

Denmark SHS is located in the Shire of Denmark within the Great Southern region of Western Australia and near the banks of the Denmark River. Built on its current site in 2000, the school is set on 19 hectares of land one kilometre east of the town centre. The school provides a comprehensive Year 7 to Year 12 secondary school education.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY

Employees will be required to:

  • Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
  • Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment.
  • Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
  • Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
  • Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter.
  • Complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement.
  • Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
